Filter promises to let you drink from almost any water source — even urine

The Fixt Nomad is a compact water filtration device designed for house owners koand emergency preparedness. It claims to purify water from nearly any non-salt source, including public restrooms, stagnant ponds, and even urine.

This pocket-sized filter can be used in multiple ways: to clean a single glass of water, attach to a hydration pack for larger quantities, or even connect to a hot water tank to provide clean water during a shortage.

According to its creator, Ian Stanley, the Nomad uses ionic adsorption and an iodinated resin to eliminate 99.9999% of bacteria and viruses. Additionally, it removes contaminants through a complex filtration process while raising the water’s pH to 9.5 for alkalinity.

Stanley, an avid outdoorsman, developed the Nomad as a self-reliance tool that could be life-saving in critical situations. Initially designing a straw filter, he later aimed for something more versatile, leading to the creation of the Nomad.

Though the device sounds promising, hands-on testing is needed to verify its effectiveness. Available for pre-order  starting at $56 in Florida, it is expected to ship in December. If it lives up to its claims, it could revolutionize portable water filtration—otherwise, Stanley has risked drinking a lot of unfiltered water!
